About

Architect and computational designer working between material, technology and space.

Amelia Vey Henry is an architect and computational designer based in Malmö. Her work sits between material research, digital fabrication and emerging technologies — from 4D-printed textile structures and robotic tooling to public installations, urban objects and interiors.

At Lund University she developed the research that became the studio's core method: printing thermoplastic directly onto tensioned textiles so that flat sheets self-form into three-dimensional structures once the stretch is released. The work was published as a peer-reviewed paper at SIGraDi 2024 and continues through the studio's own prototypes and commissions.

Alongside her independent practice, Amelia has worked internationally with architects and practices through Finch, helping teams adopt computational and AI-powered design tools and translating new technologies into usable workflows.

Across all of it, the question is the same: how can technology give designers new ways to think, make and build?

Today Studio Vey turns that question into three things: objects, workshops and lectures. Objects range from printed textile pieces and prototypes to installations and built work. Workshops are taught for festivals, schools, studios and cities. And the studio lectures on programmable materials, computational design and architecture as venture.

Studio Vey is open for commissions, workshop bookings, lectures and research collaborations.

    Finch

    Senior Partnership Lead at the computational design company Finch, working on generative design tooling and integrations with the wider AEC software ecosystem.

  • 2025 — Present

    KKV Monumental

    Leads the 3D-printing workshop at the collective workshop in Malmö, supporting artists and makers on their own printed work.

  • 2021 — 2023

    Lund University (LTH)

    Master of Architecture. Thesis on 4D printing architectural textiles, supervised by Anton Tetov Johansson and David Andréen, published as a peer-reviewed paper at SIGraDi 2024 in Barcelona.
