Objects, installations & research

Work

A cross-section of projects spanning digital fabrication, programmable textiles, robotic tooling, public installations, modular furniture and low-budget interiors — each one testing how material, technology and assembly can produce new spatial experiences.

4D Printing Architectural Textiles

2024

A body of research, design systems and prototypes for self-forming, self-supporting architectural composites — thermoplastics printed directly onto flat tensioned textiles that warp into three-dimensional structures once the stretch is released.

Robotic Extruder for ABB IRB 2400

2024

A custom 3D printing extruder attachment built and programmed from scratch — hardware and software — to bring direct-to-textile printing onto a six-axis industrial robot arm and out of the desktop printer's build volume.

Programmable Self-Supporting Structures

2024

Large-scale prototypes testing adhesion, material behaviour and print geometry across scales — from small material studies to demonstrators that hold their own shape without any frame, presented at SIGraDi 2024 in Barcelona.

Wonderfront Light Tunnel

2019

A temporary light installation for the 2019 Wonderfront Music Festival in downtown San Diego. Using material, light and shadow, the project transformed a pedestrian transition zone between festival stages into an immersive spatial experience. Amelia Henry contributed to the fabrication and construction of the installation.

Pergola

2019

A modular urban furniture system in steel and tile, designed to create intimate social space within a larger public setting. Developed through the Traffic '19 Independent Study Group, the project explored climate, mobility and adaptable public-space design and was ultimately installed at Cafeina Cafe in San Diego.

Micro Gallery

2018

A compact, mobile exhibition structure that reimagines the gallery as a small-scale architectural experience. The project explores display, enclosure and public engagement through a modular design approach. Amelia Henry contributed to the fabrication and construction of the installation.

Hotel Room Redesign

2022

A low-budget hotel room transformation developed within a €1,000 budget. The project introduced a custom canopy bed with integrated lighting, built-in corner shelving and a compact desk solution, using simple fabrication techniques and materials to improve the room's functionality and atmosphere.
